We know you may have a few more specific questions. For more of the nitty-gritty details, here’s a selection of additional frequently asked questions:
Q: How would you describe a contributor?A: Contributor is the definition Mookie uses for our community members. These members can contribute with ideas, film materials etc but can also use Mookie as a destination for their portfolio of creative works.
Q: Does it cost to be a member?A: No, Mookie is a free service for creators/community members. Actually, you are able to earn a lot of money through Mookie, so it’s sort of the opposite relationship.
Q: Who can join Mookie?A: Anyone can join the community as long as they meet the application requirements. Mookie is designed exclusively for talented and skilled filmmakers who can demonstrate a certain level of skill. Initially, Mookie was only available to a limited number of handpicked individuals who formed the core group of creators. Now, members of the community receive invitation rights to invite like-minded people who they believe will fit the desired profile for participation. Apply for membership here.
Q: Is Mookie open to everyone?A: No, Mookie is an exclusive network for skilled creators and filmmakers. To become a member you must either be invited or apply through our application service, after which your application will be assessed by representatives from Mookie. Q: How do I earn money?A: Mookie gives you the opportunity to compete for Best Contribution in various contests and to pitch for best offers in jobs. Mookie gathers the new assignments and then makes them available for creators to compete over. See more under “For Contributors”.
Q: OK, sounds good, but what’s in it for Mookie?A: Mookie will charge marketers with a fee in return for the services we provide. Most of the money a marketer invests in receiving material, ideas and services from Mookie will be channeled directly to the contributors themselves.
Q: What about copyright protection?A: Mookie takes great pride in protecting our contributors’ content and has therefore developed legal agreements and arrangements to ensure that your videos are safe with us. Please be aware that a contest or job assignment can have individual rules for participation. Be sure to read these terms and conditions before you sign up.
Q: Who owns the content uploaded to jobs and contests?A: A contributor will always own his or her material until a new agreement has been reached. By participating in a contest you may give the contest assigner a right to display and distribute your contribution during the competition. The specific terms and conditions set up for each contest defines how material will be handled and how copyright issues will be resolved.
Any material uploaded in conjunction with an application for a job assignment (e.g. references from previous work) will remain the property of the applicant. When the job assigner finally has selected an applicant to work with, the parties will enter into an agreement regulating terms and conditions for the assignment.
Q: How do i get the best video quality in my clips?
A: Either...
Format it into a Flash FLV-file in the resolution 672x368 pixels in 15 fps and 860 kbps.
or...
Use a 16:9 camera and render and upload in a lossless format no lower than 368 pixels high.
A: No, there is no limit, in fact, the bigger size you send, the better it is likely to look after compression.
Q: What is UGA or User-Generated Ads?A: User Generated Ads are ads that have been created by independent users instead of commercial production companies. The key feature with user-generated ads is the power it brings by using a consumer’s voice right from the start. Because who could be better than the consumer to tell what consumers really want to see?
Q: I have a friend who also wants to join, what do I do?A: There are two ways of getting your friend a membership. First, you have certain invitational rights, which are displayed on the “MyPage” section. Invitational rights are allotted by the editor group at mookie.com.
The other way is for your friend to apply through the application page. Here you upload and show us some of the things you have done previously and a Mookie representative will go through it and either grant or deny membership.
Q: What is Mookie’s policy on copyright infringement?A: Mookie will do their utmost to protect and govern copyrights and to make sure that no infringements are made. Both the contributor as well as the marketer will enter into agreements with Mookie in which they are bound to follow the rules for participation. Immaterial rights are one cornerstone in these agreements as well as protection from any conduct or material that could be unlawful, obscene, fraudulent, abusive, antagonistic, threatening to others, or is hateful, racist, ethnically demeaning or otherwise objectionable.
Q: Do I need special software to watch videos on Mookie?A: The player we use is the Adobe Flash player 9 which is available here.
